Manufacturing Method Standards (ペットフードの基準・規格 その2) — Additional
- When heating or drying raw materials, use a method with efficacy sufficient to remove microorganisms that derive from the raw materials and are capable of growing (加熱し、又は乾燥する場合は、原材料等に由来し、かつ、発育し得る微生物を除去するのに十分な効力を有する方法で行うこと).
Operator Duties (事業者の責務) — Notification (届出)
- Both legal-person and individual operators must file a notification before starting manufacture or import of pet food.
- Notification goes to the MAFF regional agricultural administration office (農林水産省地方農政局等) covering the prefecture of the principal office.
- Required documents: notification form (正本1通 + 控え1通) and proof of business existence (e.g. 登記簿謄本 / certificate of registered matters).
- eMAFF online filing is also available.
- Changes (法人代表者 / 事務所所在地 / 製造事業場 / 保管施設 / 輸出用) must be notified.
- Discontinuation and succession also must be notified.
