1980, NRC 1987). Where specific data were lacking in dogs, data on other species were extrapolated. The new profile for growth and reproduction raises the minimum amount of fat required. In the practical experiences of the subcommittee members, this was deemed necessary to increase the energy content to appropriate levels.
