AAFCO 2016 official publication

AAFCO 2016 Official Publication was the first edition after the 2014/2015 transitional period and carried the 2014 revised values forward as the official baseline — including the split dog calcium maximum (1.8% DM for Growth & Reproduction and All Life Stages; 2.5% DM for Adult Maintenance). The amino acid minimums (arginine, lysine, methionine-cystine, tryptophan, threonine, etc.) were not new in 2016: they had been part of the profiles since the original Canine and Feline Nutrition Expert Subcommittee work of 1990-1992 (Dzanis, J. Nutr. 124:2535S-2539S, 1994) and appear in full in the 2013/2014 tables. Taurine minimums likewise predate 2016 and apply to cats only (0.10% DM in the 2014 cat profile; 0.10% DM dry / 0.20% DM canned per the US profiles dataset); the dog profiles set no taurine requirement. Per the US nutrient profiles dataset, the AAFCO 2024 Official Publication is a carry-over of the 2016 revisions, with the profiles last substantively updated in 2014/2016 — making 2014-2024 effectively a stable regulatory plateau.
