EN (Art. 1): The purpose of this Act is to ensure the safety of pet feed by regulating its manufacture and related activities, thereby protecting the health of pet animals and contributing to animal welfare.
- 日文原文：第二条 この法律において「愛がん動物」とは、愛がんすることを目的として飼養される動物であって政令で定めるものをいう。 ２ この法律において「愛がん動物用飼料」とは、愛がん動物の栄養に供することを目的として使用される物をいう。 ３ この法律において「製造業者」とは、愛がん動物用飼料の製造（配合及び加工を含む。以下同じ。）を業とする者をいい、「輸入業者」とは、愛がん動物用飼料の輸入を業とする者をいい、「販売業者」とは、愛がん動物用飼料の販売を業とする者で製造業者及び輸入業者以外のものをいう。
EN (Art. 2): 'Pet animal' (愛がん動物) means an animal kept for companionship as designated by Cabinet Order; 'pet feed' means anything used to nourish pet animals; 'manufacturer', 'importer' and 'seller' are defined as businesses handling pet feed (manufacture includes mixing and processing; sellers are sellers other than manufacturers/importers).
- 日文原文：第五条 農林水産大臣及び環境大臣は、愛がん動物用飼料の使用が原因となって、愛がん動物の健康が害されることを防止する見地から、農林水産省令・環境省令で、愛がん動物用飼料の製造の方法若しくは表示につき基準を定め、又は愛がん動物用飼料の成分につき規格を定めることができる。
EN (Art. 5): The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Minister of the Environment may, by joint ministerial ordinance, set standards for manufacturing methods or labeling of pet feed, and specifications for feed ingredients, to prevent harm to pet animal health caused by feed use.
