Article 10 (第十条) — Type-1 Animal Handling Business Registration (第一種動物取扱業)
A person who intends to operate a Type-1 animal handling business (第一種動物取扱業) must obtain registration from the governor of the prefecture that has jurisdiction over the location of the business office. The Type-1 business is defined as conducting as a business the handling — sale (including brokerage or agency), boarding, lending, training, exhibition (including provision of opportunities to interact with animals), and other handling prescribed by Cabinet Order — of animals (mammals, birds, or reptiles kept for companionship, excluding those kept for livestock agriculture and those kept for testing/research or for manufacturing biological preparations and other purposes prescribed by Cabinet Order).
