Additive and other limits in the MAFF pet food composition standards (成分規格). Table values are in µg/g at 10% moisture (水分量10％の場合の上限値); the unit for additives is g/t (添加物の単位はg／t).
Additives (添加物):
- Ethoxyquin + BHA + BHT (エトキシキン・BHA・BHT): 150（合計量）— combined total of the three antioxidants. For dog food a stricter species-specific cap applies: 犬用は、エトキシキン75 µg/g以下 (ethoxyquin ≤ 75 µg/g).
- Sodium nitrite (亜硝酸ナトリウム): 100
Other (その他):
- Melamine (メラミン): 2.5
Pet food must not contain these substances above the upper limits (上限値を超えてこれらの物質を含むことはできない).
