Soybean Meal — cross-standard identity

Derived crosswalk of how one pet-food ingredient is named and defined across three jurisdictions. No claim of regulatory equivalence is made — pairings are anchored on Latin name + process and the verdict states where the definitions actually diverge.

  • Latin anchor: Glycine max (L.) Merr.
  • Process anchor: AAFCO: ground flakes after solvent extraction of oil from dehulled soybeans, ≤3.5% crude fibre; EU 'Soya (bean) meal' (2.18.3); CN 豆粕 (solvent-extracted soybean meal)
  • Verdict: equivalent

Per-jurisdiction entry

  • 🇺🇸 AAFCO (US) — Ch.6 84.7 "Soybean Meal, Dehulled, Solvent Extracted": by grinding the flakes remaining after removal of most of the oil from dehulled soybeans by a solvent extraction process. It must contain not more than 3.5% crude fiber. It may contain calcium carbonate or an anti-caking agent not to exceed 0.5% as defined in section 87 (Special Purpose Products) to reduce caking and improve flowability. The name of the conditioning agent must be shown as an added ingredient. When listed as an ingredient in a manufactured feed it may be identified as “Dehulled Soybean Meal.” The words “Solvent Extracted” are not required when listing as an ingredient in a manufactured feed.(Proposed 1989, Adopted 1992) _(src: AAFCO OP 2024 Ch.6, code 84.7)_
  • 🇪🇺 EU — Reg 68/2013 2.18.3 "Soya (bean) meal": Product of oil manufacture, obtained from soya beans after extraction and appropriate heat treatment. (Urease activity maximum 0,4 mg N/g × min.)It may be rumen protected. _(src: EU Reg 68/2013 Annex, code 2.18.3)_
  • 🇨🇳 CN — 公告1773 豆粕: 纤维素酶(产自长柄木霉 、黑曲霉、孤独腐质霉、绳状青霉) _(src: 农业部公告第1773号 饲料原料目录, entry 豆粕)_

Crosswalk verdict

All three = solvent-extracted soybean meal. EU dehulled variant 2.18.4. CN 豆粕 directly equivalent.

> Method: derived_from_dataset. Every quoted name/definition is from the first-hand source cited per cell. Equivalence is a derived editorial judgement anchored on Latin name + process; where jurisdictions use different regulatory units (named meal vs category-based PAP) the verdict is regulatory_divergence / no_confirmed_equivalent rather than 'same'.
