Reg (EC) 1/2005 — transport documentation required (Article 4; applies to any animals transported, including companion animals)

Article 4 of Regulation (EC) No 1/2005 requires that no person transports animals without carrying documentation in the means of transport stating the particulars listed below. These documentation duties apply to the transport of animals generally.
For non-commercial movement of a companion animal by its owner, the same documentation duty (origin/ownership, departure place, departure date and time, intended destination, expected journey duration) applies; the journey-log and transporter-authorisation regimes in later articles are addressed to professional transporters and specific livestock species.
