UK feed law — packaging & Catalogue of Feed Materials (retained Reg (EC) 767/2009 Arts 23-24, as amended in GB) — verbatim extracts from the UK's retained (assimilated) version of Regulation (EC) No 767/2009 on the placing on the market and use of feed, as published on legislation.gov.uk and applicable in Great Britain post-Brexit. These clauses govern how feed (including pet food) is placed on the GB market. Articles 24 and 25 were substituted by The Animal Feed (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (S.I. 2019/654), so they now reflect the GB-specific regime (Catalogue maintained by the appropriate authority; Codes of good labelling practice developed by the Food Safety Authority, explicitly one for pet food). C1 substring-verified against the first-hand legislation.gov.uk text (English source — no translation layer). Distinct from the framework/definitions and labelling-presentation topics already in the uk category.

The following are verbatim clauses (C1 substring-verified against pdf-raw/uk-2026/uk_eu767_art23_30.txt):

Art 23(1) - Feed must be placed on the market in sealed packages/containers > VERBATIM (Reg (EC) 767/2009): "Feed materials and compound feed may be placed on the market only in sealed packages or containers. Packages or containers shall be sealed in such a way that, when the package or container is opened, the seal is damaged and cannot be reused."

Art 23(2) - Derogations (bulk / unsealed allowed) > VERBATIM (Reg (EC) 767/2009): "By way of derogation from paragraph 1, the following feed may be placed on the market in bulk or in unsealed packages or containers:"

Art 24(1) - Catalogue of Feed Materials maintained by the appropriate authority (GB-substituted) > VERBATIM (Reg (EC) 767/2009): "A Catalogue of Feed Materials (the Catalogue) must be maintained by the appropriate authority. The Catalogue must include for each feed material listed at least the following particulars—"

Art 24(3) - Notification of unlisted feed materials to GB representatives > VERBATIM (Reg (EC) 767/2009): "The person who, for the first time, places on the market a feed material that is not listed in the Catalogue must immediately notify its use to the representatives of feed businesses in Great Britain."

Note: Article 26 (Establishment of the Codes / Community Catalogue) and Article 28 (Committee procedure) were omitted from the GB-retained version by S.I. 2019/654; penalties for feed-law breaches now fall under separate UK implementing instruments rather than Reg 767/2009 itself.
