Korean pet feed labeling is governed by Annex 15-2 (Other Labeling Matters for Pet Feed, newly established 2025.09.04, effective three years after promulgation). Language rule (Article 4.a): labeling shall be in Korean as a rule; Chinese characters or foreign languages may be used together to aid consumer understanding but not in a larger font size than the Korean — except for imported feeds and trademarks/product names registered under the Trademark Act. Common labeling matters (Article 3): product name; feed ingredient registration number (사료의 성분등록번호); feed name and form; type of pet feed (complete/other); feed purpose (with age/species examples); registered ingredient quantities; names of ingredients used; precautions; actual weight (net content — expressed in g, mL, or L depending on packaging); content of veterinary medicinal additives; date of manufacture (import) and expiration date; name (business/factory name), address, and telephone number of the manufacturer (importer); repackaging information. Labeling must be on the smallest sale unit, printed/engraved/stamped non-fadingly (stickers allowed in defined cases), with minimum font sizes of 6-12 points depending on the labeling matter (reducible by 2 points when the principal display panel or information panel area is 200 cm² or less). Imported feeds may use firmly attached Korean-language stickers that do not obscure the main original labeling; the exporting country name and manufacturing company name must be displayed; foreign certification marks not permitted domestically (HACCP feed factory, organic, eco-friendly) must be covered. Ingredient names are listed in descending order of usage (ingredients under 2% by weight may be listed without regard to order). A best before date may be displayed voluntarily and may replace the expiration date.
