Korean pet treats (간식) are not a separate statutory category: under Annex 15-2 (effective 2028.09.04, three years after promulgation by MAFRA Notification No. 2025-93) they are labeled as "Other Pet Feed - treats" (반려동물기타사료-간식). Appendix 2 of Annex 15-2 gives the labeling forms: treats (extrusion/익스트루젼), treats (jerky/육포), treats (dried meat/건조육), treats (chew/껌), treats (freeze-dried/동결건조), treats (biscuit/비스킷), treats (wet/습식), treats (wet can/습식캔), treats (retort/레토르트), treats (tray feed/트레이사료); other Other-Pet-Feed subcategories are nutritional supplement (영양보충용), nutrition regulation (영양조절용), dietary regulation (식이조절용), additive (첨가제, e.g., vitamin C, vitamin premix), puppy milk (유년기 펫밀크), and beverage (음료). Annex 15-2 sets no treat-specific nutrient minimums; products display their registered ingredient quantities as registered (Appendix 2 example for dried meat: crude protein 40.0% min, crude fat 5.0% min, crude ash 6.0% max, moisture 28.0% max). Other relevant labeling rules: retort feeds must be labeled "retort feed"; sterilized/pasteurized products labeled accordingly; frozen pet feeds are labeled by type ("for consumption without heating" / "for consumption after heating") with frozen storage and thawing methods; compound feeds with moisture over 14% and single/complementary feeds over 12% moisture must carry an after-opening spoilage precaution.
