EU Catalogue of Feed Materials — Regulation (EU) No 68/2013 (verified against local EUR-Lex extract of 2026-07-14: eu_feed_catalogue_32013R0068_20260714.txt / eu_feed_catalogue_materials_20260714.json).
Commission Regulation (EU) No 68/2013 of 16 January 2013 establishes the Catalogue of feed materials referred to in Article 24 of Regulation (EC) No 767/2009 (placing on the market and use of feed). It repeals Regulation (EU) No 575/2011; feed materials labelled under 575/2011 before 19 August 2013 could continue to be placed on the market until stocks were exhausted.
Use of the Catalogue is voluntary (Annex Part A(1)), but the name of a listed feed material may be used only for a material complying with that entry. The Catalogue distinguishes "feed materials" from "feed additives" (the latter authorised under Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003).
Structure (Annex Part C): 13 chapters, 604 material entries in the local extract. Chapters: (1) Cereals and products derived thereof; (2) Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits and products derived thereof; (3) Legume seeds and products derived thereof; (4) Tubers, roots and products derived thereof; (5) Other seeds and fruits, and products derived thereof; (6) Forages and roughage, and products derived thereof; (7) Other plants, algae and fungi, and products derived thereof; (8) Milk products and products derived thereof; (9) Land animal products and products derived thereof; (10) Fish, other marine animals and products derived thereof; (11) Minerals and products derived thereof; (12) Products and co-products obtained by fermentation using micro-organisms (or by specific processes); (13) Various feed materials.
Each entry carries a code (chapter.entry.subentry, e.g. 3.9.1 Sweet lupins), a name, a description of the material/process, and compulsory labelling declarations where applicable (e.g. crude protein, crude fibre, ash insoluble in HCl, moisture, total sugars calculated as sucrose).
Related but distinct: the EU Feed Materials Register (FMR) is the internet register of notifications of feed materials not listed in the Catalogue, published under Article 24(6) of Regulation 767/2009 — see topic EU_FMR_overview.
Note (2026-07-19): previous version listed a wrong chapter structure (invented "sugars" and "fruits" chapters, mis-ordered chapters 8-13, omitted chapter 13) and a fabricated cross-reference claiming Reg 2020/354 cites this Catalogue; both corrected/removed.
