Chinese pet food label requirements are set by the Pet Feed Labeling Rules (宠物饲料标签规定, MOA Announcement No. 20, 2018, Annex 3) — Article 3 lists 12 mandatory label items, not 22: (1) product name (产品名称); (2) ingredient composition (原料组成, with 原料组成 and 添加剂组成 as lead words, ingredients in descending weight order, names matching the 饲料原料目录/饲料添加剂品种目录); (3) guaranteed analysis values (产品成分分析保证值); (4) net content (净含量); (5) storage conditions (贮存条件); (6) directions for use (使用说明); (7) precautions (注意事项 — products with animal-derived ingredients except dairy must state '本产品不得饲喂反刍动物'); (8) production date (生产日期); (9) shelf life (保质期); (10) producer name and address (生产企业名称及地址); (11) license document number (许可证明文件编号); (12) product standard number (产品标准). Additional rules: the statement '本产品符合宠物饲料卫生规定' must appear prominently with a quality inspection certificate (Article 4); complete feeds must use 通用名称 such as '宠物配合饲料/全价宠物食品' with species and life stage, snacks must be named '宠物零食' (Article 5); text height ≥1.8 mm when label display area exceeds 35 cm² (Article 22). Non-compliant labels are penalized under Regulation Article 41 (标签规定第二十四条); product inconsistent with its label is penalized under Regulation Article 46.
