AAFCO Ch6 garbanzo beans

AAFCO Chapter Six contains no definition for garbanzo beans (chickpeas, Cicer arietinum): the ingredient does not appear in the 2024 Chapter Six parsed dataset (650 entries) nor in the 2022-edition Chapter Six source text. Garbanzo beans nevertheless appear on pet food ingredient panels, particularly in grain-free and legume-inclusive formulas, where they are declared under the common or usual ingredient name consistent with AAFCO naming rules. When used, chickpeas contribute starch and moderate protein (roughly one-fifth protein on a dry basis by typical food-composition data) and contain trypsin inhibitors that must be denatured by adequate heat treatment (e.g., extrusion) before use in pet food. Because there is no AAFCO definition, any compositional "standards" quoted for garbanzo beans are supplier or literature values, not AAFCO criteria.
