AAFCO Ch6 definition 75.4 Chipped Rice, Broken Rice, or Brewers Rice is the small fragments of rice kernels that have been separated from the larger kernels of milled rice (Proposed 1959, Adopted 1960; IFN 4-03-932). Despite the name, the AAFCO definition describes a rice-milling fraction โ the small fragments screened out of milled rice โ and does not itself describe a brewing byproduct or list compositional specifications. Brewers rice contains less fiber than ground brown rice and is highly digestible; in pet foods it provides easily digestible carbohydrate and is often used as a grain source in sensitive-stomach formulas. The AAFCO definition sets no protein, starch, fat, fiber or ash values; typical analysis figures quoted by ingredient suppliers are not part of the official definition. Not to be confused with 75.5 Ground Brown Rice (the entire product obtained by grinding rice kernels after hull removal) or with whole grain rice.
