AAFCO Ch6 covers petroleum-derived processing aids in its feed-additive table rather than as a single named ingredient: Mineral oil (21 CFR 573.680) is permitted to reduce dustiness of feed or mineral supplements, to serve as a lubricant in the preparation of pellets, cubes and blocks, to improve moisture resistance of such products, and to prevent segregation of trace minerals in mineralized salt — limited to not more than 3% in mineral supplements and not more than 0.06% of the total ration. Petrolatum or a combination of mineral oil and petrolatum (21 CFR 573.720) and Petroleum jelly (21 CFR 573.720) are listed as dust control agents with the same limits (3% in mineral supplements; 0.06% of the total ration); Paraffin is likewise listed as a dust control agent with the same limits. These are food/feed-grade processing aids, not motor petroleum products; excessive use can interfere with fat-soluble vitamin absorption. Note the "3%" ceiling applies to mineral supplements, while the ceiling for the total ration is 0.06% — the two limits are distinct in the AAFCO table (2022 Official Publication text; carried in the 2024 Chapter Six dataset).
