AAFCO 2024 Official Publication consolidates the association's current pet food reference materials. Its nutrient profiles carry forward the values last substantively updated in 2014/2016 — per the US nutrient profiles dataset, the 2024 edition is explicitly a "carry-over of 2016 revisions", so the dog and cat minimums and maximums (including the 2014 split dog calcium maximum of 1.8% DM for Growth & Reproduction / 2.5% DM for Adult Maintenance) stand unchanged. The publication includes, as Chapter Four, the Model Regulations for Pet Food and Specialty Pet Food Under the Model Bill (Regulations PF1-PF12, Section Editor—Lizette Beckman), covering label format, brand and product names, intended use and nutritional adequacy claims, the Pet Nutrition Facts panel, calorie content determination, and descriptive terms; and, as Chapter Six, the Official Feed Terms, Common or Usual Ingredient Names and Ingredient Definitions (Editor—Richard Ten Eyck, OR; submission guide Section Editor—Tammy Plank, FASS), containing roughly 650-700 ingredient definitions. No new numeric nutrient profile values were introduced in 2024; the edition is a consolidation of the 2014/2016 profile values with the current model regulatory text.
